This is why I prefer to stay far from tankless water heaters. I also think if the teen can shower for a full hour with out running out of hot water they will simply do it and there goes the fuel bill, but I will save that rant for another day.

There are ways to run the indirect directly off of the boiler water below the water line, using the indirect as a hx for a conventional indirect coil or to use the indirect to heat the potable water with a circulating pump and a storage tank.
